I cannot get my brand new Windows 7 computer with a built in card reader to read CF cards. When I insert the cards, a green light on the reader comes on, but nothing appears in my computer and I cannot find the files through Adobe Bridge either.I am shooting on a Canon 5D Mark II if that makes a difference. I have tried multiple cards, from old generation 1gig cards to brand new high-speed 16 gig cards, from both Scandisk and Lexar.Same result.Light comes on, nothing happens. When I plug the SD memory card from my small Canon Powershot into the SD slot on the same reader, it pops up immediately, no problem. What is the deal?My IT guy said he checked the reader and it does not appear to be a hardware problem. I've been a staunch defender of PCs my whole life, and all my Adobe licenses are for Windows, but it would be worth the $$ to feel like I was using a machine engineered by people who actually cared about people working in my field. https://treetronics225.weebly.com/blog/overdrive-ebook-reader-for-mac.
This was bought to replace an old 512mb CF card for our camera. It arrived in good time, the packaging is the usual plastic monster, which would have been better replaced with a smaller, simpler packaging but once the scissors made their way through the poly-fortress, the card easily accepted a Micro SD card, and fit into the camera snugly. It also fits into our card reader, with a positive connection and works far more quickly than the old CF card. The ability to use the card either in a CF slot or by using the Micro SD in a separate reader away from home is a big advantage.
Other than the niggle about excessive plastic packaging, it's exactly what we wanted.
